Tynkkylän Lomaniemi is located amid beautiful countryside, on the shore of Pihlajavesi, in Vuoriniemi, Punkaharju. With its islands, peninsulas and inlets, the area of Lomaniemi is home to the Saimaa ringed seal, one of the world’s most endangered seals.
Alongside farming operations, we began to offer tourism services in 1968, and these operations have expanded steadily ever since. Lomaniemi offers accommodation in 14 holiday homes, which are equipped to a 3–5 star level under the MALO classification for rural accommodation facilities.
In addition to accommodation, we also offer other services and activities:
* guided forest walks in Mökinniemi with an introduction to local history
* boat trips to Kongonsaari, where visitors can view caves excavated in the rock to form part of the wartime Salpa Line fortification zone.
* plant dyeing courses
* traditional haymaking on poles
* our guests have access to a SUP board, boats, fishing equipment, cross-country skis, bicycles and snowshoes.
We also offer services to boaters in the Saimaa region at the marina.
In the summer, our main building houses an idyllic café with beautiful views over the lake. It is open every day from 10 am to 8 pm and upon request at other times. We serve coffee and delicious cakes, with our strawberry cheesecake always proving popular among our guests! Our café is licensed to serve alcohol.
On summer Sundays, we offer a festive buffet in the best traditions of Karelia and Savonia. No table reservation is required, although we recommend that groups make an advance booking.
***Hop in a car or on a train and come to the Savonlinna region. The Jewels of the Countryside in the Saimaa region are within easy reach all year round.***
